Disconnect electronics. Washers,
dryers, ice makers should be disconnected. Have someone qualified
disconnect and reconnect gas appliances, we can provide an appliance
serviceman for an additional charge. The same goes for front load washer
and driers. Drain gasoline and oil from lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc.
Flammables, explosives, pressurized containers
Propane tanks
Paint
Living things (pets, plants, in-laws)
Items that will not fit thru doors or windows
without causing damage to your residence or furniture item. (Ask your
estimator)
Decorated Christmas trees, it's been requested!
Unpacked fragile items
Clothing can remain in drawers. Remove
anything that may spill or break, and anything of high value such as
jewelry. Desks often have to be placed on end to make turns or go
down stairs, so you may want to pack their contents.
Yes you can. We ask that all boxes be sealed with tape and stackable.
Marking the boxes with the contents and desired room placement will make the
unloading process much easier. We understand that some items are not as
convenient to pack as others, such as lamps, mirrors and pictures. We can pack
these for you as long as we know ahead of time to bring out the correct material.
Shelly Moving & Storage offers wardrobe service for your hanging clothes, making
moving your closets that much easier. We will pack, move, and unpack your
hanging clothes back into your new closet, giving you one less thing to worry about.
Of course Shelly Moving also offers full service packing or partial packing service
to meet your needs. We can pack as little or as much as you need us to.
Shelly Moving accepts American
Express, Mastercard, Visa, and Discover cards. Please notify our office no
later than the day before your move with credit card information. Payment
for all moves must be made in an accepted form upon completion. If your
employer is paying your moving expenses, we may be able to establish an account
to bill them directly, but we must know if this is the case in
advance.
Crating may add significant costs.
Items that may require crating are as follows:
- Plasma TVs, unless original
packaging available.
- Marble, thick glass tops,
large pictures and large mirrors.
- Mounted animals and large
aquariums.
- Pool table slate.
If our movers provide an exceptional service in a
friendly manner, they certainly would appreciate your consideration.
Tipping is not required nor expected, but certainly a tip would never be
turned down. By all means, don't offer a gratuity in the form of
alcohol! Rude behavior or carelessness certainly does not warrant a
reward.
This is a common problem. At
additional cost, we can arrange for storage or we could hold your belongings
on our moving van. If you find a delay in delivery is necessary, be sure
to tell your moving consultant as soon as you know it. Putting things in
storage not only adds warehousing cost, but your one move will grow to two
moves! Keeping your items on a truck may be an option depending upon the
season.
The best time to move is during the
Spring or Fall in the middle of the work week. That being said, it doesn't
matter because most people want to move the last Friday in June! The
moving business is VERY seasonal. We sometimes do more moves in one week
in June than we have done in the entire previous winter! Try to avoid
moving on weekends or from the second full week of June through the 4th of July
holiday if you need to control cost
The Top Ten List!
10. Movers move slower during hurricanes
and blizzards.
9. Customer forgot to mention
that the room that the 8 foot hide-a-bed was in was built around the
hide-a-bed.
8. The architect that designed your
new condo was unaware that people have queen size boxsprings under their
mattress.
7. The family dog thought the movers
were stealing all his stuff and bit the big toe off the driver.
6. It's not a coincidence that the
most common names of movers are Larry, Moe, and Curly.
5. No one told the customer to have
the gas turned off before the movers pick up the gas dryer.
4. Why should the customer know that
the food should be removed from the refrigerator and freezer?
3. The customer didn't know she had
to empty the water from her waterbed.
2. You can't fit a 72,000 pound
truck over a 1 ton bridge, or under a 8 foot tree limb, or park it on one of
the lanes of a two-lane highway on the other side of a hairpin curve.
and the biggest reason of them
all--------------------------------
1. The mover and the customer weren't
honest with each other!
Seriously, be sure to tell the mover
everything that you expect of him, and expect the mover to be forthright with
you. Moving is traumatic. Our customers have to deal with real
estate agents, financial institutions, and lawyers before dealing with us.
That's not fun. Try to put the memories of settlements behind and let's
work together to get your lives back in shape!
